Dalí's famous elephant is represented again here. The
animal stands on terrifying long spindly legs, balancing
a herald precariously on its back. Dalí's elephant, an
iconic symbol of the future, is often depicted having
almost invisible spider legs to emphasise the contrast
between robustness and fragility (much like the
contrast between the past and present). The animal's
jewelled saddle symbolises wealth
and the dawn.
